 Jim Schlobohm
President
Jim has thirty years of experience in estimating and building quality products. As the owner of a construction company in Dallas, he was a State Farm Preferred Contractor. Following Hurricane Andrew, Jim left Dallas to assist in the reconstruction efforts in Miami, believing his experience in insurance repairs would be valuable to Florida residents. In September 1992, he joined efforts with a local General Contractor to establish Groden Stamp Building Services. In their first year, the company completed $1.8 million in hurricane renovations. Just over a year later, Jim made his partners an offer and took over the business completely. He relocated to Miami Beach and continued his success under a new name, The Construction Group.
Over the next few years, while his business continued to grow Jim became active in the greater Miami Beach community. He established the Alton Road Home Owners Association, which galvanized neighbors in the struggle to make Alton Road a safer neighborhood. After years of work with the Miami Beach City Council and FDOT, the Alton Road Home Owners Association succeeded in putting traffic calming measures in place that have reduced car accidents and fatalities in the area.
Jim’s concern for his community extends to his own employees. In a move quite unusual in this industry, he established a competitive benefits package for his workers, including medical coverage, retirement benefits and profit sharing.
Jim treasures the relationships he’s built over the years with his community. His hard work on behalf of the Alton Road Homeowners Association had the added benefit of strengthening his relationship with the City of Miami Beach. In addition, he prides himself on his public record. His effective negotiation skills have afforded him a reputation that few contractors can claim: he’s never been sued by or had to sue a sub-contractor or owner. Those who know Jim recognize him as an honest and forthright member of society whose attention to quality and detail is second to none.
Jim’s insight, experience, and direction have been integral to the growth of The Construction Group.
 Joe Gerace
Production Manager
Joe’s involvement in the construction industry began in 1980 when he owned a cabinet shop. His skills as a Master Carpenter lead him to work for Gold Coast Construction and Turchin Development. In 2001, Joe began working with TCG as a Finish Carpenter. Soon his talents as a great overseer and motivator promoted him to Production Manager. Joe’s positive attitude and experience make him a valued member of The Construction Group’s team. |
 Conchita Trapaga
Office Manager
Since 1994, Conchita’s skills have been appreciated in all aspects of office work. She is responsible for Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. She directs the organization, maintenance and management of job files and subcontractor records. As our Bilingual Specialist, she can provide clarification and resolution to any misunderstandings. Conchita’s organizational and linguistic skills have been essential to The Construction Group’s team. |
